How many cities are there in Pre-Searing Ascalon? I have found a total of five cities.

There's an outpost in every zone/county except for North of the Wall. Asford Abbey is in Lakeside, Barradin's Estate in Greenhills, Foible's Fair in Wizard's Folly, and Fort Ranik way on the far east side of Regent's Valley. There's also Ascalon City in Lakeside County although you can't miss that as that's where you start off. So, 1 "Town" in the GW sense (in that they have a lot more merchants and NPCs to interact with) and 4 "Outposts" (that have at least an Outfitter/Merchant and one or two NPCs).

What exactly is pre-searing and how long does it last? If it ever goes away.

"Pre-Scearing" Is the noob area that every character starts out in. Once you enter the academy, it is gone. Enjoy it while you can.

but you do have to be level 3 or higher to go to the academy; basically when you are ready to leave, talk to tydus in Ascalon. But be sure you really are ready, theres no coming back
